New TBA Chairman Elected

Thursday, June 07, 2018

Richard Skinner has been elected as the new Chairman of Tenpin Bowling Australia (TBA) following the AGM on Saturday 26th May.

Having joined the TBA Board in February 2017, Richard will move into the Chairman’s role following Jamie Taafe reaching the maximum term as a TBA director.

The AGM also marked time on the TBA Board for John Coxon who has held a director position with TBA since 1998.  However, the long serving volunteer of the sport will continue in his capacity as National Tournament Director.

Following their departures from the Board, Richard paid tribute to the pair whilst noting their enormous contribution to the sport and TBA.

“I thank Jamie and John for their contribution to the sport over many years and the many hours they have dedicated to ensure the sport continues to move in the right direction,” Richard said.

Richard who has been a member of TBA’s Finance, Risk and Audit Committee as well as the Governance and Remuneration Committee since joining the organisation, brings a wealth of skills and experience to the role having previously been the CFO of a listed agribusiness and CEO of a number of business subsidiaries.

Following the election the retired CPA said he was excited about what lays ahead for the organisation and the sport.

“It’s a great honour to be elected as Chairman of TBA especially in an exciting time for the sport and industry.  I am looking forward to working with the new Board and all stakeholders to ensure we have a bright future for the sport and industry,” Richard said following the AGM.

The AGM also saw Michelle Roberts elected as vice-chair with Shane Bernhardt and Geoff Bowness being announced as new TBA directors.

The weekend also saw State Association representatives meet with TBA to discuss strategic and operational issues affecting the sport both now and into the future.
