Caboolture to Host 2018 Queensland Junior Cup

Thursday, June 28, 2018

The popular Queensland Junior Cup will again be staged in the Moreton Bay region – this year at the 18-lane Caboolture Bowling Centre in Morayfield. The Centre hosts some of Australia’s most prestigious tournaments and QJC organisers are confident that this nationally-ranked event will attract players and supporters from across the country.

Scheduled for the weekend of 21-22 July, the QJC is open to TBA-registered bowlers 18 years and under and offers a prize pool of over $12,000, with equal prize-money for the top four bowlers in both the male and female divisions.  Graded bowlers will be rewarded with an increased prize pool this year and the male and female champions will receive a thrilling bonus of return flights for two to Singapore, courtesy of multi-award-winning airline SCOOT.  The tournament is proudly supported by the Moreton Bay Regional Council and TBAQ travel partner EUROPCAR, and BPD Bowling Australia is also providing exciting prizes and special discounts on STORM bowling equipment for QJC participants.

Adding to the excitement of this year’s event will be the live-streaming of the pin-flying action via Caboolture Bowl’s YouTube channel throughout the weekend.

“Our Facebook page gets hundreds of hits every week and there’s always a significant uplift during major events like this,” SQ Junior Committee Chairman Nathan Stein said.  “And, of course, the action on the lanes is not only followed by junior bowlers and their supporters but by people of all ages across the entire bowling community,” he added.

Moreton Bay Regional Council Division 3 Councillor Adam Hain said after the success of last year’s tournament at Strathpine, the region was excited to again host the Cup, this time at Morayfield.  “We can’t wait to welcome Aussie bowling’s next big names to Moreton Bay and share in the thrill of this jam-packed two-day event,” Cr Hain said.

“Not only will the 100+ competitors and officials showcase all the fun and action of bowling, they’ll also provide a huge boost for our local economy and flaunt our top-notch bowling facilities.  We have a strong sporting pedigree in Moreton Bay, and TBAQ’s announcement reinforces our region as a must-visit destination for sports fans.”
