Australian Team Announced for 2018 Menís Championship

Monday, July 23, 2018

TBAís High Performance Committee has today announced the team to represent Australia at the 2018 World Bowling Menís Championship.

Boasting international experience the team will compete in Hong Kong from November 23 to December 5, against the qualifying nations.

After winning three bronze medals at the 2014 World Menís tournament and the only one who has survived from that team, PBA bowler Sam Cooley will lead the team when they compete in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Teams and Masters Events at the renowned SCAA Bowling Centre.  2018 has been another successful year for the New South Welshman winning 3 ranked event in Australia plus victory at the Philippine International Open in May.

In the team, Cooley will be joined by 2017 World Bowling Championships teammates Jarrod Langford and Lachlan Merchant.  Both Langford and Merchant will come into the tournament knowing how the lanes at SCAA play, having competed on them at the Asian Championships in 2016.

Having made his debut in the green and gold at the 2017 World Bowling Championships in Las Vegas Adam Hayes makes his way back into the team and the competitive right-hander will bring experience on and off the lanes to the team.

Australian Youth team representative Blayne Fletcher and Michael Murray will step into the menís team for the first time.  Having both competed at last yearís PBA World Series of Bowling they will know what to expect when the Singles competition gets underway on day one.

More information on the tournament can be found on World Bowling Opens external link in new windowhere.
