Junior Sydney Cup Enters 42nd Year

Friday, September 28, 2018

The action packed Junior Sydney Cup is set to begin at Campbelltown City Bowl tomorrow with the historic tournament entering its 42nd year.

In a field that is wide open, bowlers will compete for over $10,000 in cash and prizes, as well as a historic national ranked title.

In a breakout year, which has included wins at the NSW Open, SA Youth Masters, SA Junior Cup, Australian Junior Masters and at last weekend’s Rollin’ Thunder State qualifying tournament at Tenpin City, Jordan Dinham will have plenty of confidence when he begins qualifying in the first squad on Saturday morning.

Another bowler who has won before at a national level is Bernie Grueso Jnr. Grueso Jnr won the 2017 Werribee Youth Cup and Melbourne Junior Cup and returns to the national circuit this weekend.

In the girl’s division, the field is wide open with the absence of Australia’s Asian Schools contingent who begin competition on Tuesday in Chinese Taipei. But the tournament presents an opportunity for up and coming bowlers to gain a place on the podium come Sunday and finish the year on a high.

The tournament will also see under 13 bowlers’ battle it out in the Under 13 Storm Cup.

With qualifying getting underway on Saturday morning at 10am, keep an eye on the action at
