🏆 TBA Australian Junior Masters – Day 2 Recap

The 54th TBA Australian Junior Masters champions have officially been crowned, with Sophie Jones (QLD) and William Zaccaria (VIC) navigating a pressure-packed finals day to etch their names into the history books at Wyncity Keon Park.

Victoria has now secured the third-most Masters titles in the 54-year history of the event. Yet, remarkably, this year marks only the second time a Victorian male has ever claimed the TBA Australian Junior Masters crown. The first was Elliott Batiste in 2014 — and now, over a decade later, William Zaccaria joins that elite club, bringing the state list of champions to 14 names.

On the girls’ side, Sophie Jones’ victory delivers Queensland’s 27th Masters title, further solidifying their dominance. She becomes the 18th Queenslander female to take out the prestigious event.

🔥 Finals Day Format

The second and final day of the Masters saw the top eight bowlers in each division face off in a best-of-three elimination bracket, with the top four performers from Round 1 seeded against the top four from Round 2 in the Quarter Finals.

It was do-or-die from the first match — win two games and advance or bow out.

🎳 Quarter Finals

Girls Division

• Abby George (TAS) kicked things off with a statement win, sweeping top seed Summah Bennett (VIC) 2–0 to book her place in the semis.
• Elouise Cocks (VIC) delivered a gritty three-game victory over Bella Westlake (QLD), the 2024 runner-up. After splitting the first two games, Elouise pulled away with a commanding 216–157 win in Game 3.
• Sophie Jones (QLD) took care of business in straight sets over teammate Isabelle Wallwork, while Sophie Greaves (QLD) edged past Aleisha McGarry (NSW) in a hard-fought 2–1 win, clinched with a tight 180–168 decider.

Boys Division

• Defending champion Lachlan Howse (QLD) faced a massive challenge in top seed Karlyn Richardson (NZ) but prevailed in three tight games to move one step closer to back-to-back titles.
• Flynn Slade (VIC) dropped the first game against Samuel Kubik (QLD) but stormed back in impressive fashion to take the next two — another chapter in what’s becoming a fairytale tournament for the Victorian.
• Layton Walker (NZ) kept Kiwi hopes alive with a composed 2–0 sweep of Tyler Clarkson (QLD) while Victorian William Zaccaria booked his semi-final ticket with a strong 2–0 victory over Kohan Davis (QLD).

🔥 Semi Finals

Girls Division

• Abby George (TAS) stayed red hot, defeating Sophie Greaves (QLD) in a three-game thriller. Sophie bounced back after dropping the first, but Abby responded with a clutch 226–191 in Game 3 to reach her first Masters final. Sophie Jones (QLD) ensured North Queensland representation in the final with a gritty 2–0 win over Elouise Cocks — both games going down to the final frames.

Boys Division

• The semi-final between William Zaccaria and Lachlan Howse was one for the books. After a 183–183 tie in Game 1, they went to a 9th & 10th frame roll-off, with William coming out on top. He carried that momentum into Game 2, completing the 2–0 sweep with a high scoring 230-225 narrow victory.
• Flynn Slade’s incredible championship continued, as he swept Layton Walker (NZ) 2–0 to reach yet another final. Already the Classic Cup champion and the only bowler to roll a 300 game during the Championships, Flynn now had a chance to add a Masters title to his resume.

👑 Grand Final

The dream runs of Abby George and Flynn Slade came to an end in the final hurdle, as Sophie Jones and William Zaccaria delivered composed performances to claim the 2025 titles in straight 2–0 victories.
