2024 Schools Sport Victoria Tenpin Bowling Championship Preview

The 2024 Schools Sport Victoria Tenpin Bowling Championship is set to take place on the 6^th December at Wyncity Keon Park, where schools from around Victoria will compete to win the state championship.

The Inaugural competition was developed this year through TBA’s ongoing partnership with School Sport Victoria, going above and beyond to encourage school students of all ages and abilities to be physically active and play all types of sports.

Dating back to October, Schools across Victoria have competed in regional qualifiers for the chance to compete in the State final and be crowned the best tenpin bowling school in the state, with school bowlers rolling down to their local centers and showing off their skills.

The Rules for the State Final held in Keon Park are as followed…

• Each School’s Team is made up of 4 players
• The competition is run as a 4 Player event over two games of bowling.
• Each Team will receive a combined score from their first game and their second game of bowling, this will be the final score for the team.
• The winner is the team of four players who totals the highest number of pinfall across the two games of bowling.
• If scores are still equal, the highest individual score of a team member will be the tiebreaker.
• All players will be off scratch (no handicaps).
• The Primary School Competition will have bumpers available; the Secondary School Competition will have no bumpers available.
• Primary School Competition is recommended for Year 4 and above.

The Final will also be run as a round-robin competition as explained below…

• Points will be allocated for Round Robin matches as follows: 4 points for a win, 2 points for a draw and 0 for a loss.
• If, at the end of a round robin, two teams are equal on matches won, then the winner of their face-to-face match will be declared the winner.
• If their face-to-face match was a draw, then the winners will be determined by the highest score in the 2nd game of bowling
• If still tied, percentage for/against will be calculated using scores from all round-robin matches.
• If still tied, the highest individual score of a team member will determine the winner.
• If the semi-final/or the final is tied, the winners will be determined by the highest score in the 2nd game of bowling will be played to determine the winner. (For example, if Team A scores 300 + 298 = 598 and Team B scores 150 + 448, Team B would be the winner)

As the finals approach, all eyes will be on Wyncity Keon Park on December 6th to see which school team will rise to claim victory of the first Victorian State Final for Tenpin Bowling. Results will be posted to our website for those who are unable to attend following the conclusion of the tournament.
