Official Medal Tallies
Australia finished third overall on the official 2026 IBF World Youth Championships medal tally, collecting one gold, one silver and one bronze medal.
The Australian boys also finished first on the Boys’ Medal Tally and the girls finished fourth on the Girls’ Medal Tally.

Congratulations to all eight athletes who represented Australia at the World Youth Championships. A special thank you to Team Manager Janine Buckingham and Team Coach Cam Walsh for everything they have done throughout the week.
It has been an incredible campaign for Australia — three medals, one of each colour. More than that, it has been fantastic to watch these young adults represent their country with pride, resilience and genuine team spirit.

After an outstanding campaign through qualifying, Matchplay and the semi-finals, Julian finished among the world’s best in Kuching. 🇦🇺

HOW THE CHAMPIONSHIPS WORK
Australia will compete across four events at the 2026 IBF World Youth Championships. Each event begins with qualifying, with the leading athletes and teams progressing through match play before the medal rounds.
SINGLES
Athletes bowl six qualifying games, with the top 16 progressing to group match play. The top two athletes from each group advance to the semi-finals, before a best-of-three final decides the medals.
DOUBLES
Pairs compete in 10 games of Baker-format qualifying. The top 16 teams progress to group match play, with the leading teams moving into the semi-finals and final.
TEAMS
Four-athlete teams compete in Baker format through qualifying and group match play. The top teams advance to the semi-finals, with the winners progressing to the final.
MIXED-TEAMS
Mixed teams feature two male and two female athletes. They compete in Baker format through qualifying, match play, semi-finals and the final.
Medals will be awarded in Men’s and Women’s Singles, Doubles and Team events, along with Mixed Team.
