The Hammer Queensland Senior Classic Preview

The New Year kicks off in full swing this weekend as the TBA Ranked Event season begins with the Hammer Queensland Senior Classic at Caboolture Bowl.

This highly anticipated event, catering to the Senior and Grand Senior Division, marks its 21st edition and continues to hold its place as the season opener for ranked events.

Boasting four squads of 36 bowlers, registrations are once again nearing capacity, with limited spots still available in Squad A at the time of writing. The format remains unchanged, with bowlers competing in 18 games within their allocated squad across two sessions. The first session of 10 games starts Friday night, followed by the second session of 8 games.

The pathway to victory is straightforward: the male and female bowlers with the highest total pinfall after all squads will be crowned the 2025 Hammer Queensland Senior Classic champions.

Defending champions Samantha Matthews (WA) and Ashley Riley (TAS) return to defend their titles from last year’s 20th edition. Matthews is coming off a stellar year that included international gold medals, while Riley capped off 2024 with a dominant performance, securing the TBA50 male division rankings.

Adding to the excitement, 2023 champion and 2024 Female Rankings winner, Dena Buxton, makes her return after missing last year’s event. With these top competitors and many others eager for a strong start to the season, the competition promises to be fierce.

With over $21,400 in prize money on the line, bowlers will have an added incentive to deliver their best performances. As the first ranked event of the year, this tournament offers a fresh start and a chance to set the tone for the 2025 season.
