Day 3 Preview: Medals on the Line as Team Australia Set for a Huge Day in Reno

A bumper third day awaits Team Australia at the 2025 IBF World Seniors Championship in Reno, Nevada – with bowlers set to contest for medals in Singles and Doubles, and begin their campaign in the Teams event.

Day 3 Focus: Singles & Doubles Finals – Teams event Begins

Singles Finals

Day 3 begins with unfinished business – the Singles and Doubles finals.

Australia will feature three semi-finalists in Singles competition, all just one game away from a gold-medal opportunity.

Adam Hayes enters as the number-one seed in the Senior Men division and will face Gery Verbruggen (BEL) in a one-game semi-final. The winner advances to the Gold Medal Match; the other will be awarded a Bronze medal.
In the Grand Senior Women, it’s an all-Australian showdown. Top seed Julie Harrison will face doubles partner Robyn Flynn for a place in the gold-medal match.

Australia is already guaranteed three medals – the only question is what colours they’ll be.

Doubles Finals

After going head-to-head in the Singles semi-final, Harrison and Flynn will reunite for the Doubles semi-finals.

Entering as the number-two seed, the pair will meet Japan for a spot in the gold-medal match. As with the Singles, the Doubles finals are contested in a one-game format, with bronze awarded to the semi-final runners-up.

Teams event Begins

With medals on the board and confidence high, attention then turns to the Teams event – the third discipline of the Championship.

Teams will bowl six games in total, split across two three-game blocks:

The first block will take place on this day
The second block follows on Tuesday morning (AEST).

The aim, as always, is to finish in the top four to qualify for the semi-finals and finals, which will use the Baker’s format – best of three games.

All-Events Race

The Teams event also represents the final six games of each bowlers 18-game All-Events total. At the conclusion of qualifying, the top 24 athletes in each division will advance to the five-step Masters event later this week.
