Double Gold for Team Australia in the Teams Event at the IBF Para Bowling World Championships!

Team Australia has dominated the Teams event at the IBF Para Bowling World Championships, claiming double gold in both the Women’s and Men’s TPB4 classifications!

Women’s Team Triumph

The Women’s Team delivered a stellar performance to secure the gold medal in a head-to-head battle with Hong Kong, China. Over four games, the Aussie women showcased incredible teamwork and consistency, finishing with a total pinfall of 2,316, narrowly defeating Hong Kong’s 2,238 by 78 pins.

A dominant second game of 645, their highest pinfall of the event, gave Team Australia the edge. Their resilience and focus carried them through the remaining games, securing a well-deserved victory.

Victorian Amanda Threlfall led the way with an impressive 626 pinfall total, including a high game of 180 in the second game, setting the tone for the team. Courtney Bucknell was close behind, contributing a strong 623 pinfall total, while Dianne Demello and Kate Juillerat played pivotal roles in ensuring a cohesive and effective team effort throughout the competition.

Men’s Team Victory

The Men’s Team delivered an outstanding performance to claim the gold medal in the TPB4 classification at the IBF Para Bowling World Championships.

Competing against strong teams from Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Macao, the Aussie men showcased consistency and teamwork across all four games, finishing with a remarkable total pinfall of 3,152, securing first place with a 117-pin margin over Malaysia.

Kallan Strong led the charge with an impressive 870 total pinfall, including a high game of 248, averaging an exceptional 217.5. Matthew Hurst added significantly with a total of 776, averaging 194, while Tyler Allen (773) and Ashley Poelstra (733) displayed consistent form, helping the team maintain their lead throughout the event.

The men burst out of the blocks with their highest score of the event, posting an 819 in the first game. This commanding start created a gap their competitors couldn’t close. All four men scored at least one game over 200, highlighting the evenness and strength of their team effort.

Malaysia claimed the silver medal with a total of 3,035, while Singapore secured bronze with 2,972.

What a First Day of the Championships!

A huge congratulations to Team Australia for this incredible double gold result in the Teams event! Their ability to handle the pressure—new to many of the bowlers—and their exceptional teamwork have made the nation proud.

The athletes and coaching team will be awarded their gold medallions tomorrow, following a last-minute schedule change to the medal presentation. A big congratulations to all the athletes and coaching staff for their phenomenal achievement!
