FitzRoy, Hayes, Clark and Frawley Crowned Brunswick Seniors Invitational Champions

Madeline FitzRoy, Adam Hayes, Christine Clark and Andrew Frawley have secured nationally ranked titles following 18 games of competition at the 2026 Brunswick Seniors Invitational.
FitzRoy delivered a commanding performance to win the Senior Female division, while Hayes successfully defended his Senior Male crown and continued his outstanding recent form.
In the 60’s divisions, Clark produced a strong final appearance to overcome an overnight deficit, while Frawley led throughout the event on his way to an emphatic victory.
The fourth edition of the Brunswick Seniors Invitational brought together Senior and Grand Senior competitors at Bowlarama Wetherill Park from 24-26 July. Each bowler completed ten games during their first appearance and a further eight games during their second, with total pinfall determining the four champions.

Overview
FitzRoy Dominates Senior Female Division
Madeline FitzRoy took control of the Senior Female division during the opening appearance and never released her grip on the title.
FitzRoy began the event with consecutive games of 268 and 269 before adding 226 in Game 3. Her opening ten games produced a total of 2,183, placing her 195 pins clear of Dena Buxton at the completion of the first appearance.
The bowler living in the Australian Capital Territory continued to build her advantage across the final eight games, including scores of 238, 279 – capturing scores of 200+ in seven of the final eight games.
FitzRoy completed the tournament with 3,952 at an average of 219.6 , finishing 229 pins ahead of Buxton and recording the highest female pinfall across either age division.
Buxton finished runner-up with 3,723 and a 206.8 average, while Amanda Bradley edged Jenny Notman by three pins for third place. Bradley totaled 3,537 and Notman completed the event on 3,534.
The victory continued FitzRoy’s strong history at the Brunswick Seniors Invitational after she finished running up at the 2024 edition. This is the first nationally ranked event title for Madeline FitzRoy in her career.

Hayes Goes Back-to-Back
Adam Hayes successfully defended his Brunswick Seniors Invitational title and claimed his second consecutive nationally ranked victory of the season.
The Senior Male competition was tightly contested throughout the opening appearance.
Brett Smith set the early pace with 2,234 across ten games, just seven pins ahead of Hayes on 2,227. Craig Bourke remained firmly in contention on 2,197, while Ashley Riley and Andrew Thorpe were also positioned within striking distance.
Hayes moved to the front during the second appearance and maintained the consistency required to secure the title.
The Victorian completed his 18 games with 3,958 at an average of 219.9, finishing 54 pins ahead of Bourke.
A local at Bowlarama Wetherill Park, Craig Bourke secured second place with 3,904, narrowly holding off Riley, who finished just one pin behind on 3,903.
Thorpe was another pin further back on 3,902, leaving only two pins separating second through fourth positions.
Stage 1 leader Brett Smith rounded out the top five with 3,866 after leading through the opening ten games.
Hayes’ triumph followed his victory at the SA Seniors Classic and marked his second consecutive Brunswick Seniors Invitational crown. He became the first bowler since Ashley Riley in 2023 and 2024 to successfully defend the Senior Male title.

Clark Storms Home to Claim 60’s Female Title
Christine Clark produced one of the event’s strongest finishing performances to win the 60’s Female division.
Robyn Flynn held the lead following the opening ten games, compiling 1,992 to sit eight pins ahead of Lee Booth.
Clark entered the second appearance in third place on 1,927, leaving her 65 pins behind Flynn with eight games remaining. She quickly began reducing the deficit, highlighted by a 246 in the second game of her final appearance and a 231 in Game 4.
Clark ultimately added 1,698 across her closing eight games to complete the tournament with 3,625 at an average of 201.4.
Flynn finished only 17 pins behind on 3,608, with Booth securing third place on 3,530.
Karen Smith placed fourth with 3,443, while Heather Robertson completed the top five on 3,374.
Clark was one of only two bowlers in the division to average above 200 across the event,

Frawley Extends Lead to Secure Commanding Victory
Andrew Frawley delivered an outstanding performance to claim the Male 60’s title by more than 200 pins.
Frawley made an immediate statement during the opening appearance, recording games of 245, 234, 242, and 224 before posting the highest game of the tournament with a brilliant 279.
He completed the first ten games with 2,270, holding a 34-pin advantage over Jim Bakirtzidis. Rather than allowing the chasing field to close the gap, Frawley strengthened his position throughout the final eight games.
Scores of 245, 257, 255, 224, 211, 221 and 245 helped him add a further 1,848 and finish with 4,118 at an exceptional average of 228.8.
Michael Muir climbed into second place with 3,914 and a 217.4 average, while Jim Karakostas secured third with 3,880.
Bakirtzidis finished fourth on 3,851, followed by Mick Talevski on 3,816.
Frawley’s 204-pin winning margin was the largest across the four divisions, while his 4,118 total and 228.8 average were also the highest figures recorded throughout the tournament.
