Junior Bowling’s Premier Event Heads to the Sunshine Coast

The 2026 TBA National Junior Championships are just days away, with Australia’s best junior bowlers set to converge on Suncity Tenpin, Alexandra Headland in Queensland for nine action-packed days of competition from 10-18 April 2026.

Hosted at Suncity Tenpin in Alexandra Headland on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, this year’s championships mark a return to Queensland and another milestone chapter in a proud tradition stretching back to 1971.

Kicking things off on Friday evening is the fan-favourite Royal Rumble – three or four person Baker-format teams, costumes encourages, prize money on the line, and Bowl-A-Strike cash giveaways. It’s the perfect way to shake off the nerves before the serious business begins.

From Saturday, bowlers will compete across Singles, Doubles, and Teams events, graded by entering average to ensure competitive matchups at every level.

Multiple entries are permitted across all events, with All-Events totals adding another layer of prestige for bowlers chasing their best across the full program.

The Road to Glory: Cup Events

Three major Cup titles are up for grabs during the Championship:

🏆 TBA Junior Restricted Cup A handicap event for bowlers averaging ≤169 (boys) / ≤159 (girls). Top 16 qualifiers in each division bowl an 8-game final. Final: Monday 13 April, 8:30am

🏆 TBA Junior Classic Cup A scratch event for bowlers averaging ≤189 (boys) / ≤179 (girls). Top 20 qualifiers in each division bowl an 8-game final. Final: Monday 13 April, 1:00pm

🏆 TBA Junior Australian Masters The pinnacle event of the week. A scratch, nationally ranked multi-stage format — qualifying through Championship Squads, cut to Top 16, Top 8, then best-of-3 matchplay finals. Defending Champions and State Representatives receive automatic qualification. Stage 2: Tuesday 14 April | Matchplay Finals: Wednesday 15 April

Shield Showdown: The President’s Junior Shield

Rounding out the Championships is the iconic TBA President’s Junior Shield – state vs. state team bowling across three days, with five person teams battling it out across 20 games from Thursday 16 to Saturday 18 April. One of the most electric spectacles in Australian junior bowling, the Shield always delivers drama, passion and unforgettable moments.

The Championships wrap up with the Presentation Dinner at Maroochydore RSL Function Centre on Saturday 18 April from 6:00pm – a fitting celebration for all competitors, families, and supporters.
