🎳 2025 TBA President’s Junior Shield

Welcome to Day 9 of the 2025 TBA National Junior Championships — the final day of the TBA President’s Junior Shield to conclude this year’s championships!

After two fierce and passionate days of play, teams have now completed 14 games, and the standings are tight heading into today’s final six matchups. The race for gold is wide open in both divisions, and everything is on the line.

🔙 Day 2 Recap

👧 Girls Division

Reigning Shield champions North Queensland surged back to the top of the standings on Day 2, adding 34 points to their Day 1 tally to now lead the division with 69 points.

• 🎳 Emily Starkey leads the charge with 10 individual points, averaging 188 across 13 games.
• 🏆 Masters champion Sophie Jones continues her standout championship, adding 9 points to the team’s cause.

South Queensland, who led after Day 1, now trails by just 3 points with 66 overall. Their Day 2 performance dipped slightly, but strong showings from:

• 💪 Bella Westlake – 9 points
• 🚀 Jasmine Walker – 9 points
• 🔥 Charlotte Fennell – 8 points
  keep them right in the mix.

✅ These two teams have now faced each other three times — North Queensland leads 2-1. A fourth and final showdown is scheduled today, and it could decide the title.

New Zealand remains a consistent force, holding third place with 61 points, driven by:

• 🇳🇿 Kaitlyn Hoare – 187 avg, 8 points

Top individual of the division? That title now belongs to SA’s Aleisha McGarry, drafted in from New South Wales:

• 👑 11 match wins, a 193 average, and a 2,702 pinfall across 14 games
• 🧱 Teammate and fellow draftee from Tasmania, Abby George also impresses — 9 points, 185 avg
  South Australia (46 points) and Victoria (52) are still within striking distance, depending on how today unfolds.

👦 Boys Division

The Kiwis are coming! 🇳🇿
New Zealand made a massive leap on Day 2, jumping from 5th to 1st place with a dominant 39.5-point performance, bringing their total to 61.5 points.

• 💣 Cooper Mollet has been the key. Now 12-2, averaging 217, with a division-best +248 over card and highest pinfall. Check out the highlight below from his match 8 battle with New South Wales, bowling opposed to Travis Cocks. Both bowlers were on track to tie on 279 with strikes on their final deliveries.

Victoria slipped slightly to second place with 60.5 points, but are still very much in the fight.

• 🏆 William Zaccaria continues to be sensational: 11-1 record, 218 average, and +222. He’s the individual leader and proving why he’s the 2025 Masters champion.

Each State/Territory/Zone will compete with one boys team and one girls team. New South Wales doesn’t have a girls team this year, so the sixth team in the girls division will be a BYE.
