Queensland/New Zealand is the 2024 TBA50 National Teams Challenge Champions!

The team consisting of both Queensland and New Zealand bowlers has claimed the grand prize, emerging as the 2024 TBA50 National Teams Challenge Overall Champions following the conclusion of the final event—the Teams of Four—at the AGL National High Performance Centre on the Sunshine Coast.
As the Teams of Four event closed the book on this year’s challenge, let’s recap the results from today and celebrate the achievements across all events.
Teams of Four
Congratulations to the Queensland/New Zealand’s teams for their incredible performances, earning gold medals in the Teams of Four event.
All-Events/All-Stars
After 18 games of bowling, the All-Events standings are officially final. Congratulations to Heather Robertson (QNZ) and Ashley Riley (TAS) for taking home the gold medals in this prestigious category.
We also celebrate the All-Stars of the challenge—bowling’s top performers, including the podium finishers and fourth-place bowlers, who delivered outstanding performances throughout.
Combined Team Point score
With all points finalised, Queensland/New Zealand has been crowned the 2024 TBA50 National Teams Challenge Overall Champions.
The winning team members consisted of:
- Karen Smith
- Heather Robertson
- Suz Wenzel
- Shirley Wrathmall
- Mark Stretton
- Jayson Masters
- Daryl Painter
- Hamish McGregor
The Queensland/New Zealand team was put together with a female team from Queensland and a male team from New Zealand to allow them to be counted toward the combined total.
A last day blitz in the team’s event has seen the team come out the other side with two golds including being catapulted up the combined standings to claim the overall title.
It was as close as you could get with a mere 3 points separating the winners and runners up Victoria with New South Wales rounding out the podium. Congratulations to the overall podium placegetters and the bowlers from the champion Queensland/New Zealand team.
Female Point Score Champions
Victoria’s female team has reason to celebrate, claiming back-to-back Female Pointscore titles. The 2024 Victorian female team was the same team as 2023, so this is a true back-to-back achievement. This marks Victoria’s 11th victory since 2010, further cementing their dominance in the competition. Congratulations to the members of the champion team and the other podium finishers.

Male Point Score Champions
The men’s race saw a dramatic finish. Despite leading heading into the final day, Victoria slipped to 4th place after a tough Teams of Four event.
New Zealand, the defending champions, delivered a stellar clutch performance to claim the silver medal in the Teams event, shooting them from third to first in the Male Pointscore standings. This marks their fourth title, the most in the event’s history. Congratulations to the members of the winning team from New Zealand and all other podium finishers.
