Tenpin Bowling Australia is calling for Expressions of Interest from eligible senior bowlers who wish to represent Australia at the 18th Asian Seniors Bowling Championships in Nagasaki, Japan.
While the allowable number of players is yet to be confirmed, we are potentially seeking to select up to 64 bowlers – 32 male and 32 female – across two divisions. This is your chance to pull on the green and gold and compete at the highest level of senior bowling in the Asia-Pacific region.

Divisions
- Seniors Division – Age 50 and above (born 1976 or before) – Four (4) male teams of four (4) and Four (4) female teams of four (4) for a total of 32 places.
- Grand Seniors Division – Age 65 and above (born 1961 or before) – Four (4) male teams of Four (4) and Four (4) female teams of Four (4) for a total of 32 places.
Please note – If there are more Grand Senior nominations than places available, eligible Grand Seniors may be placed in Seniors division vacancies at the Selection Panel’s discretion.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for selection, you must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be a current Tenpin Bowling Australia (TBA) member in 2026
- Be an Australian citizen
- Meet the minimum age requirement for your division
- Have competed in a minimum of two (2) ranked senior events in 2025 and/or 2026
- Complete and submit the official Nomination Form by 31 March 2026
Ageing-in bowlers (turning 50 during 2026): You must still satisfy the date of birth eligibility (born 1976 or before) and submit a completed nomination form.
Selection Process
The Australian squad will be named approximately two weeks after nominations close, subject to confirmation of the total number of bowlers permitted by the host country.
If nominations exceed available places, the Selection Panel will determine which bowlers have earned the right to represent Australia. The allocation of bowlers into specific teams will also be decided by the Selection Panel.
Special consideration may be granted where a bowler is unable to meet eligibility requirements due to a significant and prolonged injury or illness. Applications for special consideration should be emailed to TBA at [email protected].
Costs & Financial Obligations
This is a self-funded trip. All selected athletes are responsible for covering their own costs including:
- Airfares and accommodation
- Registration Fees: $230 USD per bowler / $180 per supporter USD
- Meals and travel insurance
- Uniforms
Payment Deadlines
Non-refundable nomination fee of $50.00 is due with your Nomination form. $200 deposit is due when team placements are announced (offset against individual expenses). All remaining costs must be paid in full 30 days prior to team departure. Failure to pay will result in forfeiture of your place.

- Sign the form – you are confirming acceptance of the TBA Athlete Agreement and Code of Conduct.
- Arrange payment of the $50 non-refundable nomination fee (see payment options below).
- Submit your completed and signed form to the TBA National Office by 31 March 2026

Important Notes
- Selected bowlers must reside at the host country’s nominated accommodation in Nagasaki
- Athletes are expected to arrive by 24 October 2026. Bowlers may arrange their own flights but must advise the Seniors Sub-committee of arrival and departure details.
- Once team placements are announced, any withdrawal will see the position filled at the Selection Panel’s discretion.
- Selected athletes must sign the TBA Athlete Agreement. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of their position.
- Selection criteria are based on the Asian Seniors Bowling Council (ASBC) rules as of November 2015. TBA reserves the right to amend criteria should the ASBC make changes.
