TBA21 National Teams Challenge – Traditional Teams Recap & All-Stars Named

The 2025 TBA21 National Teams Challenge wrapped up in exciting fashion at the AGL National High Performance Centre on the Sunshine Coast with the final event of the competition – the Traditional Teams event.

This classic four-person team format saw each bowler complete three games, with scores contributing not only to the team’s standings but also the individual All-Events totals. Medals were up for grabs one last time, with every pin counting toward overall team supremacy.

Female Division

North Queensland came out swinging in Game 1, firing a 738 led by strong scores from Sophie Greaves (199) and Emily Starkey (191), establishing themselves as early frontrunners.

But it was Northern NSW who timed their run perfectly, saving their best for last with a clutch 702 final game to surge into first place. The duo of Samantha Clifton and Brooke Buckingham anchored the comeback, both averaging 190 across the three games. Their consistency sealed a total of 2,069 and earned the team gold.

North Queensland, despite their electric start, settled for silver with a total of 2,023. South Queensland rounded out the podium in third with 1,881.

Male Division

Northern NSW wasted no time asserting their dominance, posting a massive 875 in Game 1 – 108 pins clear of their nearest challengers, Victoria 2. Doubles champions Blake Walsh (279) and Jackson Buckingham (235) were at the heart of the onslaught.

The NNSW boys didn’t let up, backing up their strong start with 729 and 835 in the final two games to finish with 2,439 and another gold medal in the bag. Walsh was unstoppable, firing games of 279, 201, and 215 for a stunning 231.7 average – a performance that locked in his All-Events title.

Victoria 2 fought hard to claim silver with 2,353 in a final game push, while North Queensland grabbed bronze with 2,252.

Challenge Titles (Preliminary)

With the Baker event operating as a standalone format this year, those scores are still being manually added to the overall team points on TenpinResults. Final combined standings will be confirmed tomorrow, but early calculations suggest a possible clean sweep for Northern NSW – male, female, and overall team champions.

All-Stars Announced

With the conclusion of the Traditional Teams event, the All-Events standings are now final. The top four male and female bowlers across all events have officially been named as All-Stars.

These eight athletes have earned the right to bypass Stage 1 of the TBA21 National Masters, advancing directly into Stage 2 when the Masters begins tomorrow.
