TBA50 National Teams Challenge Preview 2025

Following the crowning of this year’s TBA50 National Masters champions, attention now turns to team glory as the TBA50 National Teams Challenge begins today at the TBA National High Performance Centre on the Sunshine Coast.

This year marks the 18^th edition of the event, with teams set to compete on the PBA Jr Tackett 44-foot oil pattern – the same condition used in the first block of the Masters.

What is it?

First held in 2007 at Oz Tenpin Altona (VIC), the TBA50 National Teams Challenge brings together the country’s best senior and grand senior bowlers to represent their states, territories, or associations in a test of consistency, teamwork, and endurance across three key disciplines.

• Singles
• Doubles
• Teams of Four

Performances across these events contribute to the All-Events standings, which determine the TBA50 All-Stars – the four bowlers who top the individual combined scores.

Results from all disciplines (Singles, Doubles, Teams of Four, and All-Events) are used to produce leaderboards in three divisions:

1. Female Division
2. Male Division
3. Combined Overall Division

The Combined Overall Division will ultimately decide this year’s National Teams Challenge champions.

• Tuesday 11 November – Singles
• Wednesday 12 November – Doubles
• Thursday 13 November – Teams of Four, All-Events finalized, leaderboard podiums finalized, and presentation dinner

Team Rosters

Representation is strong in 2025, with nine teams in the race and ready to battle for medals across all divisions. Nine teams are in the male division and eight teams in the women’s division.

Past Champions

This year marks the fifth time Queensland has hosted the TBA50 National Teams Challenge, and the event continues to grow in prestige.

• Male Division – New Zealand leads all-time with four titles
• Female Division – Victoria has been the powerhouse, capturing 11 titles since 2010, the most of any state.
• Overall Title – New Zealand leads the way, being involved in five overall victories, the highest tally to date.
• High Games – Four perfect 300 games have been bowled in the men’s division, while Lee Booth (VIC) holds the women’s high game record with 290.
