Australia’s Best Young Bowlers Named for 2026 IBF World Youth Championships

Eight of Australia’s most promising young bowlers will represent the green and gold at the 2026 IBF World Youth Championships, with Tenpin Bowling Australia (TBA) confirming the national squad for the global event to be held in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia from 27 June to 7 July.

The Australian team will compete at the Megalanes Sarawak Bowling Centre, a 42-lane venue, alongside youth athletes from International Bowling Federation (IBF) member federations across the world.

“We couldn’t be prouder of the young athletes who have earned selection for this year’s World Youth Championships” explained TBA National Bowling Manager Nathan Stein.

“This squad reflects the incredible depth we’re seeing come through the Australian program right now. Many of these bowlers were turning heads at the 2025 World Championships in Hong Kong, where our men’s team claimed a bronze medal that showed the world exactly where Australian tenpin bowling is headed.

 The future of this sport in Australia is in very good hands” added Stein.

Cameron Walsh will again coach the team after a challenging selection process.

“Finalising this squad was one of the most challenging selection processes I’ve been involved in and that’s genuinely a great problem to have” explained Walsh. “There were bowlers who could have easily earned a spot and missed out purely because the standard across the board has lifted so dramatically. The eight athletes we’ve named are ready for this stage, and preparations are already well underway. I can’t wait to see what they can do in Kuching.”

Competition runs across nine days from 28 June, bookended by an Opening Ceremony on 27 June and a Victory Banquet on 6 July.
